Our Commitment to Sustainability
TRENZ is not just about connecting Aotearoa New Zealand to the global tourism trade industry and showcasing the best in tourism, it's about doing so responsibly. As New Zealand’s largest international tourism business event, we understand the responsibility we hold in fostering responsible practices within our operations. Therefore, we are actively taking steps to mitigate our environmental impact, implementing strategies to reduce and ultimately offset the carbon emissions produced during our event.
Mitigating our Impact
The sustainability plan for TRENZ 2024 is based on the framework of the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment and includes Economic, Visitor (delegate), Community and Environmental sustainability initiatives.
Carbon Certification with Ekos
TRENZ 2024 is proud to work with Ekos to be a certified Net Zero Carbon Event. We are committed to measuring, mitigating and offsetting the carbon emissions created by the event, including pre- and post-event activities. This includes:
- Staff, speaker, and supplier travel
- Freight and distribution
- Electricity usage
- Venue waste
- Emissions from famil activities
By investing in certified carbon credits, TRENZ 2024 will be supporting projects dedicated to the growth and preservation of forests in New Zealand.
*Ekos is a business that develops and supports carbon projects that grow and protect forests in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Ekos’ forest carbon projects deliver climate resilience, waterways protection, erosion control, biodiversity protection and community economic development.
